Doomsday, the rampaging, Kryptonian monster that once killed Superman, is reportedly being considered for an appearance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Bleeding Cool claims that a reliable source assures them that production sketches featuring the supervillain are making the rounds at Warner Bros.

Last November, ComicBook.com was the first to report that Doomsday and his creator Bertron were referenced in the Man of Steel Blu-Ray bonus features. Those same features included a nod to Bruce Wayne.

Asked in June of 2013 what threat could be significant enough to bring together the Justice League (a movie that's already been announced by Warner Bros.' CEO), Man of Steel star Henry Cavill said, "Whether that threat would be Doomsday or Braniac or whatever, we don't know. But there would have to be a lot more storyline to have the audience be okay with an introduction to say Braniac of Doomsday."

Not long after that, we asked Doomsday's creator, writer/artist Dan Jurgens, what he thought it would take to make the character work onscreen.

"Doomsday is the anti-Superman. Whereas Superman is a creature of the thought and reason, Doomsday is pure rage-- a force of nature," Jurgens said. "He does not think. It's brutality unleashed-- an unstoppable shark on land. A beast of unrestrained savagery. He has a primal drive to kill. It would have to be visually convincing, which I think can surely be done, and pose Superman with the ultimate threat and obstacle."

Comparing Doomsday to the villain of Man of Steel, Jurgens continued, "In the movie, Zod framed the terms of the fight by saying that only one of them would walk away. Doomsday's savagery would frame the terms of this battle by leaving Superman only one option-- the ultimate sacrifice."
