When Gary Oldman heard that Ben McKenzie had been cast as James Gordon in the upcoming Gotham TV series, he had one piece of advice for the young actor. Oldman said, "Go back to the comic books. That's what I did…There's great stuff about Gordon. He had a whole other life." And when Gary Oldman talks, people listen. Earlier today, McKenzie posted a photo of several copies of the Gotham Central comics, along with the text, "Got some reading to do. # gotham." When a fan tweeted at McKenzie that he seemed to be taking Oldman's advice, McKenzie responded, "Oops. I meant...Wouldn't you?" Since his casting as James Gordon was announced, McKenzie has also thanked Arrow's Stephen Amell for welcoming him to the DC Universe, and he has expressed being thrilled to have Donal Logue as a partner on the show. The pilot for Gotham is still in the casting phase of development and no air date has been announced yet.
