When rumors started to circulate this weekend that Marvel's Ultimate Comics line was going to be eliminated, ComicBook.com didn't cover the reports; we'd heard it all before, after all. The Ultimate line is, for some reason, always rumored to be just a hair's breadth from extinction, in spite of the fact that it never turns out to be true. A number of other sites did pick up on the news, though, and so when Ultimate Comics Spider-Man writer Brian Michael Bendis took to his Tumblr to address the question, we figured it was worth a quote:

"I am happy to report that we are cooking a couple of interesting projects with the ultimate universe along the lines. Ultimate doomsday was a project very close to my heart. I am also happy to report that the ultimate universe is in healthy shape and not going away anytime soon, contrary to some irresponsible reporting out there today."

So it would appear that Ultimate Comics is just fine. Carry on, then.
