Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is going into full production mode soon, with the whole crew: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot - all back in action. But one of the strange aliens they came across in their first adventure probably won't be back for volume two, the actor says.

Benicio del Toro told ComingSoon that he "doesn't think so," as far as a Collector return for the sequel. "They would have told me, I hope... I do hope to play that character again at some point."

His character first showed up in the post-credits sequence for Thor: The Dark World. The sequence was shot and directed by James Gunn, who wrote and is directing the new film. One of the reasons the Collector might not be returning for this particular adventure is that del Toro himself will be off on a different Disney space adventure. The actor has a role, heavily rumored to be a primary villain, in Star Wars: Episode VIII. That film, from Lucasfilm, is scheduled to hit theaters exactly three weeks after GOTG v2, from sister company Marvel Studios, in May 2017.

Gunn has previously teased that the film will feature new characters, while also delving deeper into the personal relationships between those from the first movie. Perhaps there will at least be time for a cameo from the Collector, maybe teasing something new in his vast stockpile.
