Booster Gold TV Series Still Alive at Syfy

In a new interview, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns was pinned down regarding the status of getting the DC Universe to the small screen, and claimed that both Booster Gold is still alive at Syfy, and that Wonder Woman may get an outing on either the big or small screen soon.

The as-yet-untitled Booster Gold series is "still in development, Andrew Kreisberg is working on it right now," Johns is quoted as saying at KSite. The series, which follows the antics of the time-displaced superhero with mercenary sensibilities, is planned to be heavily influenced by the character's first monthly comic book series from the 1980s, in which Booster's commercialist side was more prevalent than it was in the more recent volume, which focused on the character as a guardian of the timestream.

Obscure old supporting players like his onetime manager Dirk Davis and secretary Trixie Collins were said to appear in the pilot. Rip Hunter, Booster's time-travel mentor and (unknown to him) son, appeared in both volumes of the series and will likely have a prominent role in the pilot. Since the project went on the Syfy development slate last year, updates have been rare.

Writer Kreisberg, who also serves as a writer and executive producer on The CW Network's Arrow, has given a number of updates saying that he's "just about to turn in a script," sometimes months apart, leading most to assume that the project has been back-burnered by the smash-hit Green Arrow adaptation.

Just yesterday, ComicBook.com found what seems to be a Booster Gold Easter egg in the background of a shot from the most recent Man of Steel trailer.
