Frozen Box Office

Frozen had become the rare film to pull off a rather unusual feat at the box office. Frozen failed to capture the number one spot at the U.S. box office during its opening weekend, but it has now won the U.S. box office during its second weekend of release. Last weekend, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire won the U.S. box office during its second weekend of release. This weekend, Frozen moved ahead of The Hunger Games Catching Fire to take the title. Frozen took in an estimated $31.6 million at the U.S. box office to take first place, while The Hunger Games: Catching Fire took in an estimated $27 million to take second place. Meanwhile, the week's big new release Out of the Furnace crashed and burned. Featuring The Dark Knight trilogy's Christian Bale, Out of the Furnace only took in $5.3 million. Evidently, Bale is learning the box office can be a lot tougher when you aren't wearing a Batman costume. In its fifth weekend of release, Thor: The Dark World is still going fairly strong. The film took fourth place for this weekend with $4.7 million at the U.S. box office.
