Box Office: Pitch Perfect 2 Tops Mad Max: Fury Road & Avengers 2

Universal's Pitch Perfect 2 is this weekend's big winner as it grossed $70.3M. The sequel to the 2012 sleeper-hit had a monster Saturday, pulling in $24.77M. The sequel has already topped the $65M domestic total of the original.

Warner Bros. and director George Miller also have a reason to sing as Mad Max: Fury Road came in right around analyst's expectation with $44.4M for its debut weekend. That figure is the best opening Miller has ever had.

Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron was dethroned this weekend after taking first place two weekends in a row. It dropped to third place, but did so with a hefty payday of $38M to $39M. It now had a domestic total of $372M+.
