Brian Michael Bendis has shut down the Jinxworld message board community commonly known as "the Bendis Boards."

"Pouring one out for the Bendis Boards," Feeding Ground artist and animator Michael Lapinski posted to Facebook this morning. "It kept my sanity and gave me a community when I was working crazy hours alone on Feeding Ground. I still know many of those great and talented people here and in person but I'll miss the opportunity that message boards offered for connecting with strangers over what we shared in an absurd online clubhouse."

He wasn't alone; a number of comic book careers were made and shaped there, including superstar The Amazing Spider-Man writer Dan Slott.

Charles Soule, Joshua Hale Fialkov, Nick Spencer and many more also posted at the Bendis boards and made friends and connections in comics before going on to become acclaimed writers and artists in the business.

After more than 20 years serving fans and creators, the boards were shut down yesterday. Previous posts are no longer available and incoming links lead to a message that reads:

It is with a heavy heart but with a headful of love and fond, fond memories that the bendis board is now closed. put out to pasture. it's the end of the road.

I am immensely proud of the community we have built, the relationships we have made, and the literal decades of fun we have had together.

For those looking for me you can always find me on twitter @brianmbendis and tumblr https://brianmichaelbendis.tumblr.com

I am not going anywhere. I am eager to hear your thoughts and love our interaction.

This looks to be one of the most exciting years I will ever have with the debut of the powers TV show and so many other big surprises coming in the next few months. it is important, now more than ever, that I focus as much of my attention on my work and family.

I hope you take personal joy in the success of the books and creators you have championed so vigorously on these boards. careers were made because of you guys. and that's no exaggeration.

Do know that I truly love all of you and I hope to speak with you as often as possible… in 140 characters or less :-)
