Bryan Singer is teasing something new hidden behind a familiar door. Singer posted a photo to Instagram of himself standing in front of what looks like the door to Cerebro in the X-Mansion of the X-Men films.
Singer's status reads: "I know. Old door. But there'll be something new behind it. #XmenApocalypse"
So what does the director mean by that? It seems like they may be planning on upgrading the look of Cerebro for X-Men: Apocalypse. While its been shown in various stages of completion, the design of Cerebro has remained consistent since the first X-Men movie, and has even influenced how the mutant-tracking device looks in Marvel's X-Men comic books. However, the timeline alterations caused by the events of Days of Future Past leave room for a new version of Cerebro to appear in Apocalypse, perhaps even rechristening it Cerebra, after its modern comics counterpart.

Another possibility is that the door will contain something new entirely, like the Danger Room. The X-Men's famous training ground has only appeared in one film so far, X-Men: The Last Stand (and is foreshadowed by the bunker where Havok's training takes place in X-Men: First Class). Perhaps what Singer means is that the door prop will also be used as the entry way into the Danger Room. A new Cerebro seems like a safer bet, but a Danger Room is possible.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27, 2016.
