In the world of anime, there is no shortage of over-powered characters who would wreck mere mortals. Shows like Dragon Ball Z and One-Punch Man thrive off the idea that a hero can continually grow more and more powerful, but what would happen if those two worlds collided? Fans have gone back and forth about what would go down if Saitama from One-Punch Man ever faced off against Dragon Ball’s Son Goku.
Obviously, you’d get carnage - pure and simple. The two characters would revel in the ultimate match up. As a Saiyan, Goku would be ready to to all-in for a fight, and he would only continue to sift through his various Super Saiyan states once he learned of Saitama’s unlimited power. As for the latter fight, Saitama would finally have found what he had been searching for: a fellow warrior who can stand up to his almighty punches.
Here at ComicBook.com, we are breaking down the argument of who would win between Saitama and Goku in a fight. Are you ready to see debate over who walks away a winner? If so, then scroll on through the slides below and let us know who you think wins in the comments below!
In One-Punch Man, the hero Saitama is the most powerful hero his universe has ever seen. The hero underwent years of extensive training to become the strongest warrior, but Saitama never factored in how boring life would be if he were unbeatable. The anime follows Saitama has he easily disposes of evil masterminds and megalomaniac invaders, but no one is ever able to intrigue him - and that is terrifying.
In the show, Saitama faces off a slew of villains, but there are two very powerful characters he faces off with called Garou and Boros. The former is known as the Human Monster and acts as a director foil to Saitama. However, when the two finally battle, it is the anime’s hero who comes out on top with ease. Saitama is also able to defeat Boros, a powerful alien invader who sets his site on Earth. The villain destroyed planets prior to his arrival on Saitama’s planet which likens his power to that of Frieza from Dragon Ball Z. Saitama easily defeats the alien with his ‘Serious Punch,’ and Boros dies shortly after remarking that Saitama hadn’t even used a percentage of his true power during battle.
When fans look at Saitama’s power this way, it seems unstoppable. The hero has reached an unknown peak of power that has yet to be explored because there are simply no villains strong enough to provoke it - and Saitama has faced plenty of baddies. On the other hand, Goku has regularly run into villains he cannot beat and is only able to take them on successfully after dying and training in the Other World. If Saitama were to unleash his full power, it seems like the bald hero would take Goku to task.
For many fans, there is no one more powerful in the anime world than Son Goku. The hero of the Dragon Ball franchise has been around for decades and shown just how powerful he is through a series of on-going anime series. Shows like Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super have leveled-up Goku up the point of being a god, and his ki control would likely scare even Saitama.
Last year, Dragon Ball Super introduced a new form of Super Saiyan powers which made Goku into a veritable god. The hero was the first of the series to enter the Super Saiyan God state and even went one step further by entering the Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan form. It’s not clear what Goku’s power level definitely rests at when he becomes a god, but it is high enough for the hero to take on a God of Destruction. The state helps Goku fight Beerus, an actual God of Destruction who has the power to entirely erase world’s from existence. The state is not powerful enough for Goku to defeat the cat-like invader.
No matter how powerful Saitama is, he is not as powerful as god to fans’ knowledged. If Goku can go toe-to-toe with a god and survive, then it seems likely that he can take on Saitama even if he shows more of his true power. That’s not even to mention the fact that Goku has a wide ranger of offensive attacks like flight, ki-blasts, teleportation, spirit bombs, and more.
