The Walking Dead Coda Spoiler

On The Walking Dead, the episode titles usually have some type of special meaning related to something that happens in the episode. The Walking Dead Midseason Finale is titled "Coda." The word "coda" is the Italian word for "tail." It is most commonly defined as the ending to a piece of music.

Why would The Walking Dead title their episode with a word meaning the ending to a piece of music? Well, in general, a Walking Dead Midseason Finale often wraps up one or more major storylines on the series. And of course, Beth Greene is the Walking Dead character who is most associated with music on the show.

In fact, there was possibly a major piece of foreshadowing in the "Slabtown" episode. At one point in the episode, Dr. Steven Edwards told Beth that art doesn't have a place in the world anymore, because art isn't about survival. Beth replied by saying that she still sings.

Could The Walking Dead Midseason Finale title "Coda" be meant to represent the end of Beth's song? Could her death be used to symbolize how art has no place in the post-apocalyptic world?

Of course, that all seems just a little too obvious, so maybe the "Coda" title has another meaning entirely.

The Walking Dead Season 5 Midseason finale airs on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 9 PM ET on AMC.
