Elizabeth Olsen Confirms Baron Zemo As Main Villain in Captain America: Civil War

With the talk about "Team Captain America" and "Team Iron Man," it can be easy to forget that Captain America: Civil War will have some honest to goodness (or badness) supervillains. Besides Frank Grillo's Crossbones, who may be instrumental in setting off the Superhero Civil War, Daniel Bruhl will play Baron Zemo, whom actress Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) has confirmed is the film's "main villain."

"Brühl is an incredible actor and he's playing the main villain in it," she told French outlet Premiere.fr. "And he's incredible! It's a movie about people as opposed to robots this time. So it's darker and it's allowed to be darker because it gets more in the mindset of humans rather than machines."

This news contradicts previous rumors that Crossbones would be Civil War's big bad.

In the comics, Baron Zemo has been a thorn in Captain America's side for two generations. The original, Baron Heinrich Zemo, was a Nazi scientist during World War II. His son, Baron Helmut Zero (the Zemo Bruhl is presumed to be playing) continued his father's legacy in the modern era.
