Emma Watson, the actress that played Hermione Granger in all 8 Harry Potter films, took to Twitter today to offer her support to Noma Dumezweni, who will be the next actress to inhabit the role of the thoughtful, know-it all witch when Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play opens later this year.

"Can't wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year," Watson tweeted.

Watson's response comes two weeks after Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling addressed the Internet outcry concerning the casting of Dumezweni. Rowling pointed out that there is nothing in the canon of her books that explicitly describes Hermione as white, black, or otherwise, and stated that she "loves black Hermione."

We’re thrilled to announce Jamie Parker, Noma Dumezweni & Paul Thornley will play Harry, Hermione and Ron. For more information about our cast, visit HarryPotterthePlay.com/about #CursedChild

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children. While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens at London's West End in late May.
