Jeremy Slater, an up-and-coming young writer with a couple of in-development projects under his belt, has been tapped by Marvel Studios to write Fox's Fantastic Four reboot for director Josh Trank, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Slater has written Tape 4, a forthcoming H.P. Lovecraft-themed horror film, as well as My Spy, a teen spy comedy that's about to go into production from Zero Effect and Bad Teacher director Jake Kasdan. The film will be a reboot of the franchise last seen on the silver screen in 2007. Fox recently lost the director on its planned Daredevil reboot, and is in danger of losing the license if they don't get the movie underway soon. Because Marvel was recently purchased by Walt Disney Studios, Fox and Sony don't want to lose the properties they currently own the options on, becuase the chances are they will never have the opportunity to get them back.
