For those looking for something a bit different in your moviegoing experience, Fathom Events and Terra Mater Film Studios have something right up your alley.
The two companies are partnering for a one-night event called MindGamers: One Thousand Words that asks the question "What if you could instantly share the mind and skills of Stephen Hawking, Beyonce, Lebron James, or anyone and everyone on the planet?" The event is based on contemporary science and will have 1000 people in the theater wear cognition headbands. The headbands will allow scientists to record the state of the audience via cloud technology in real time. It will be the first image of a mass mind state and will take place in U.S. cinemas on Tuesday, March 28 at 8 pm CST.
"This is truly a new experience for cinema audiences," Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. "To present live data from a collective conscious of moviegoers will be a fascinating and incredible feat, and we are thrilled to help bring this content to the big screen!"
"As a studio, we have taken on the challenge to create cinema that pushes new boundaries and goes beyond the ordinary," Walter Koehler, CEO of Terra Mater commented. "'MindGamers' is the creative engine to a world-first moment in neuroscience history, and we are proud to partner with Fathom and bring this to our audience live."
The official description can be found below, and you can order tickets here.
Headlined by Sam Neill ("Jurassic Park") and Tom Payne (The Walking Dead), the feature film "MindGamers" is innovative grounded science fiction fare (Black Mirror, The OA and Westworld). It follows a group of brilliant young students who create a wireless neural network with the potential to link every mind on earth via a quantum computer. Capable of transferring motor-skills from one brain to another, they have brought into existence the first shareware for human motor-skills. They freely spread this technology, believing it to be a first step towards a new equality and intellectual freedom. But they soon discover that they themselves are part of a much greater and more sinister experiment, as dark forces emerge that threaten to subvert this network into a means of mass-control.
