With DC's Legends of Tomorrow set to take to the airwaves in 2016, fans are anticipating the small-screen debut of a team that includes The Atom, Hawkgirl, Firestorm and Rip Hunter.

...But as we've seen on Arrow and The Flash, the DC Universe is an interconnected place and there are more than just your title characters to draw from.

Especially in a world where Rip Hunter can take the heroes to any period in history or prehistory, anyone (movie rights permitting) can presumably show up in Legends.

So...who are some of the other legends we'd like to see on the show? Read on...

Booster Gold

This is the obvious one, right?

Rip Hunter's father in the comics, Booster had an appearance on Smallville that was embraced enthusiastically by fans, followed by word of a pilot of his own from Arrow producer Andrew Kreisberg.

While that series never quite came to pass, chatter around it has continued. One of the big questions about getting Booster into the series might actually be whether the rights are still tied up at Syfy.

With time travel being a focus and the Time Masters being name-dropped in promotional material for the series, Booster seems like a natural fit.

Of course, he's far from a "legend." His tagline, "The greatest hero you've never heard of," isn't just a joke. Booster and Rip actually put a great deal of work into making sure that history remembers Booster as ineffectual, so that the heroic legacy that springs from him isn't cut off at the knees when somebody tries to kill him in his crib.

Hawkman

It's rare to see Hawkgirl without Hawkman for any long period of time -- and while the temptation to make him a regular is something that might need to be avoided lest the two of them start to take over the whole show, certainly it would be weird to see her without Carter indefinitely given the whole tortured, reincarnated, star-crossed lovers thing that has basically dominated both of their depictions since Geoff Johns reinvented the characters a decade ago.

Not that The CW would ever stoop to such a manipulative storytelling device as hot, young people angsting over each other for no good reason.

Anthro the Cave-Boy/Kamandi/Jonah Hex

Come on, really. If you've got a time-travel story, you have to visit some of the weirder, wilder characters that DC has had throughout their publishing history set in other eras.

There are absolutely characters from stories like Final Crisis and Time Masters: Vanishing Point who will never be in live-action if it doesn't happen someplace like Legends of Tomorrow. And the idea that you have the ability to use Kamandi and don't? That's just wrong.

Also, Anthro can be used either as his classic take (as seen briefly in Final Crisis) or as the meta-commentary, kind of goofy version from Doctor 13: Architecture and Morality, which would be hilarious. And however they use him, he could turn out to be a contemporary of Vandal Savage.

Aliens

This one is kind of general, but it's worth a mention: We'd love to see some aliens pop up in the series.

After all, most iterations of Hawkman and Hawkgirl are aliens in some capacity. And extra-terrestrials play a huge role in the DC Universe.

But so far, there's none in the Arrowverse and it seems like Supergirl, at least for now, will be kept in her own little pocket of Warner Bros. Television's world. But in a series that features high adventure, time travel, Firestorm and The Atom, the potential for introducing aliens as one of the few things that can really rattle Rip Hunter is strong.

Constantine

Time-travel, aliens...and magic?

It's fairly well-known at this point that the Arrow writers batted around ideas for incorporating NBC's Constantine with the DC Universe of The CW. Now that the show is over, it would be great to see John Constantine -- or maybe Jim Corrigan, or somebody like that -- make at least a token appearance on Legends of Tomorrow to say, yes, it's all connected.
