Frozen Is Now Highest Grossing Original Animated Film Of All Time

has become the top-grossing original animated feature of all time. The film has reached a domestic box office total of $347,899,011, passing Finding Nemo's original domestic box office of $339,714,978 to reach the top of the charts. By original, we're excluding sequels and any box office take from re-releases. Shrek 2, the sequel to the original Shrek movie, is still the highest grossing animated movie of all time with $441,226,247 at the domestic box office. The Lion King and Finding Nemo both have a total domestic box office take higher than Frozen due to re-releases, but they are below Frozen based on their original release. Frozen has been a blockbuster success for Disney, reaching $810,399,000 worldwide and garnering nearly unanimous critical acclaim. The film won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature and has been nominated for an Oscar in the same category, as well as another nomination for Best Original Song for "Let It Go." Frozen is still marching on, with a sing-along version of the film coming to theaters on January 31 and a Broadway version already in the works.
