The season finale of the fourth season of Game of Thrones, “The Children,” airs tonight on HBO. This season has been a big one for Game of Thrones, setting new series ratings highs on multiple occasions. Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have said that this year’s finale will be their best yet, setting fans’ expectations pretty high.
In the previous episode, “Watchers on the Wall,” Jon Snow and the men of the Night’s watch defended the Wall against Mance Rayder’s invading army. They managed to last the night, but not without casualties. Both Pip and Grenn died in the battle, and Ygritte and Jon were reunited only for Ygritte to die in Jon’s arms. Though the Watch survived the night, Mance is still at their doorstep with a huge army. Jon Snow decided to take matters into his own hands left to try to kill Mance himself.
In “The Children,” an unexpected arrival north of the Wall changes circumstances. Dany (Emilia Clarke) is forced to face harsh realities. Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) learns more of his destiny. Tyrion sees the truth of his situation.
