Goosebumps won the North American box office this weekend with $23.5M. 60% of its audience were families and 59% were under the age of 25. The crowd was evenly split between males and females.

Sony's feature film adaptation of R.L. Stine's bestselling children's book series knocked The Martian off its perch, which it had sat on for the past two weeks. However, The Martian did take second-place with a solid $21.8M.

Steven Spielberg's Bridge of Spies starring Tom Hanks debuted in third with $15.38M. 89% of the audience was over 25 and 53% was male.

Guillermo del Toro's gothic-horror film Crimson Peak could only climb to fourth with a $12.8M opening weekend. 60% of the audience was female and 55% was over 25.

Meanwhile, Hotel Transylvania 2 takes fifth with $12.25M on Friday, Pan claims sixth with $5.9M, The Intern grabs seventh with $5.4M, Sicario nabs eighth with $4.5M, Woodlawn is ninth with $4.1M, and Maze Runner: Scorch Trials clings to tenth with $2.75M.
