Jessica Lucas is an incredibly sweet girl who heaps thanks and praise on fans and contributors to Gotham alike, noting her interactions on Twitter and the "look and cinematography of the show" when we first started chatting during an interview at New York Comic Con.

But her character, Tabitha Galavan, is far from sweet. She's deadly with her whip and claws, and while she may seem like the just muscle for her brother Theo at times, Lucas assures us that Tabitha has some schemes of her own.

"I went outside and practiced maybe 20 minutes before we did that," she said of using the whip first time in the death of Sionis (Todd Stashwick) in the season premiere. "I was really terrified I was going to hurt somebody, but he's okay - he actually is alive, I promise."

She's getting used to it now, though, teasing, "we just shot a really big fight sequence on Friday. I won't spoil who it's with, but there was some whip work in there and the more I get to use it the better I feel."

Perhaps most importantly, though, she addressed her upcoming mentorship of Selina Kyle.

"Pretty soon, Tabitha's going to gain some independence, maybe branch away from Theo a little bit, and maybe that's when you'll see her meet with Selina."

Check out the full interview in the video above, and check out Gotham Monday nights at 8pm/7c on Fox.
