Ever since it was revealed that a Gotham TV show set in the Batman universe is coming to FOX, many fans have been wondering if the show might be based on the Gotham Central comic book series, which was written by Greg Rucka and Ed Brubaker. However, it does not appear that will be the case. Or if it is the case, then at least Rucka and Brubaker don't appear to know about it. In response to the news, Brubaker tweeted, "I only point this out because people keep congratulating me and as far as I can tell, this show has nothing to do with Gotham Central." On his Tumblr blog, Greg Rucka also offered up an official response to the news. Rucka wrote, "I offer the following answers: I was as surprised and delighted as everyone to hear they were making a "young Gordon" cop show. As far as I know, this has nothing to do with Gotham Central. If it did have anything to do with Gotham Central, that wouldn't matter, because DC owns the rights and the characters, as they should. This was work-for-hire, something all of us knew at the start. I have not been contacted by anyone involved. I would be delighted to be contacted by anyone involved ; )  I wish FOX and DC Entertainment success with the show."
