According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dreamworks has hired Nicole Perlman, who wrote the script for Guardians of the Galaxy, to adapt the young adult science-fiction adventure novel, The Fire Sermon, into a film. Considering the popularity Guardians of the Galaxy has seen based on just a trailer, it's possible that Perlman is in for a big year. The Fire Sermon is a novel written by Francesca Haig and has, so far, only been published in the United Kingdom. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic future where humans are always born as twins, with one twin being pefect and the other being mutated in some way. The mutants are sent away to live in their own factions. The story follows a particular brother-sister pair as the brother becomes the leader of one of those factions. The film follows in a trend of YA sci-fi adaptations, like The Hunger Games and the upcoming Divergent. Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1, 2014.
