Guillermo del Toro Drops Out of Beauty and the Beast Retelling

Guillermo del Toro now dropped out of directing Beauty, the version of Beauty and the Beast that he had written and had attached Emma Watson to star in, Deadline reports.

Watson is still attached, and del Toro is still on board as a producer (with his script theoretically still the version being used), but Warner Bros. are looking for a new director to take over. 

Director Bill Condon has a live-action Disney version of Beauty and the Beast coming soon, while a French version La Belle et la Bete is in the works starring Blue is the Warmest Colour's Lea Seydoux. The CW's serialized vesion enters its third season in the fall.
