It looks like we will finally get to see the moment that Chewbacca met Han Solo.
During their presentation at the Deutsche Bank 2016 Media, Internet, & Telecom Conference, Disney's Bob Iger ended up on the topic of Star Wars. After speaking about Rogue One a bit, he mentioned that there would be a Han Solo standalone film, which will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
When talking about the movies planned for after Star Wars: Episode VIII, hitting theaters in December 2017, Iger talked about the next Star Wars Story stand-alone film, an origin story about Han Solo and Chewy. For fans of the fearsome twosome, this is good news. While we won't get anymore Han Solo stories in the present, at least we will get to see him in the past.
