Born in Pennsylvania, the actor was raised by his parents Shirley and Harold in West Homestead. The actor, along with his siblings, were encouraged by their parents to pursue their interests which led Goldblum to move to New York City at just 17 years old. He studied by the Neighborhood Playhouse under Sanford Meisner and made his acting debut on-stage in Two Gentlemen of Verona.
In the 1980s, Goldblum would star in a slew of films such as The Fly, The Tall Guy, and more. However, he is best known for playing mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park. He reprised his role as Ian in The Lost World: Jurassic Park in 1997. His work in Independence Day and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou are also widely known. In recent years, Goldblum teamed back up with director Wes Anderson for The Grand Budapest Hotel.
This year, fans saw the actor make a big screen comeback in Independence Day: Resurgence when he reprised his role as David Levinson. Next year, fans will see Goldblum hit the big screen once more when he appears in Thor: Ragnarok as Grandmaster, a powerful enemy of the iconic comic book hero.
