Valiant Entertainment's Harbinger will end with the series's twenty-fifth issue, on the stands in July, the publisher has announced. A three-issue miniseres, titled Harbinger: Omegas, was announced last night at WonderCon and will serve as a way to wrap up some threads from the outgoing series. Valiant also recently announced the end of Bloodshot and the H.A.R.D. Corps, meaning that the future of the "Rising Spirit" corner of its universe seems in question following the upcoming "Death of a Renegade" storyline. The publisher, who are rolling out new titles every month this summer and fall, have expressed a commitment to keeping the number of their ongoing titles in the single digits for the time being. "I feel like it's a complete and whole narrative ending, I think there's going to be a satisfaction in it," series writer Joshua Dysart told CBR. "Obviously, some characters will continue on and other characters will not. We've been teasing for a while now that, sadly, one of our very beloved fictional characters is going to be left on the battlefield, and that's going to have a great emotional impact on the others. I've always tried to remind readers that these are kids and they're in over their heads and they've never been very good at what they do. There's just repercussions to this kind of behavior even if you have superpowers. That's what we're moving toward, we're moving toward that final statement -- really saying that strongly for the reader, "This is what the story was always about." It was about inexperience in the face of great danger." The series' oversized final issue will be written by Dysart and feature art by Khari Evans with contributions from Ron Wimberly, Lucy Knisley, Barry Kitson and more. Omegas deals with the aftermath of Harbinger #25 and features art by Rafa Sandoval.
