With a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the role apparently already cast, actor Idris Elba might not be Luke Cage...but that doesn't mean he doesn't have his eye on a couple of other potential franchises down the road.

During a Reddit AMA the other day, the actor not only debunked rumors that he was appearing in Guy Ritchie's King Arthur and mentioned in passing that Marvel has apparently already cast their Luke Cage...but he also told fans the kind of "superhero" he'd be open to playing in the future.

"I wanna play... I thought it'd be really cool to play Hancock," Elba said. "Yeah, I would love to play sort of a ... you know, sort of that human being that actually has superhero powers, like Hancock and like Luke Cage."

Elba, whose turns on the acclaimed series Luther and The Wire have made him a fan-favorite for pretty much every role that opens up in Hollywood, was reportedly on the radar of the Bond producers, who are reportedly already looking two movies down the road to when Daniel Craig's contract is up and they have to replace the British super-spy.

Asked whether he'd take the job if he were indeed the choice, Elba was unequivocal.

"Yes, if it was offered to me, absolutely," he told a fan.

At present, Elba plays Heimdall in Marvel's Thor franchise and there have been rumors that Pacific Rim's next installment could involve his character, who died in the first but could recur in flashbacks or video.
