Iron Man 3: Five Predictions For 2013

With 2012 coming to an end, it's time for everyone to start making predictions about what 2013 will bring. One of the biggest movies for 2013 will surely be Iron Man 3. The big question among fans is if Iron Man 3 will prove as rewarding as the original Iron Man movie or if it will be a bit of a disappointment like Iron Man 2. Here are our top five predictions for Iron Man 3. 5. Iron Man 3 Has Second Biggest Opening Weekend In U.S. Box Office History – Many have been wondering how much the box office success of The Avengers will help Iron Man 3, and we predict the answer will be a lot. While we don't think Iron Man 3 will be able to touch The Avengers amazing $207 million opening weekend record, we do predict that Iron Man 3 will rake in an astonishing $175 million during its opening weekend, which will be good enough to place it at number 2 on the all time opening weekend list. 4. Iron Man 3 Will Be A Critical And Fan Hit – While The Avengers might help Iron Man 3 have a huge opening, it will be rave reviews from critics and fans that carry it through a large part of the summer at the box office. The presence of Sir Ben Kingsley will win over critics, while Robert Downey Jr. will prove as appealing as ever with the fans. We've seen enough footage and heard enough rumors from the set that we feel confident in predicting that Iron Man 3 is going to be a good one. We predict Iron Man 3 will crack $400 million at the U.S. box office and has a shot at reaching $500 million. In the Worldwide box office, we predict Iron Man 3 will be the first Iron Man movie to join the billion dollar club. 3. Iron Man 3 After The Credits Scene Will Involve Guardians Of The Galaxy – While most of the after the credits scene rumors have revolved around Ant-Man, we think that particular movie is just too far away for Marvel Studios to tease it this early. Thor And Captain America are also established enough characters that their movies don't really need an after the credits tease at this point. We predict that it will be Guardians of the Galaxy that Marvel Studios decides to promote after the credits. 2. Janet Van Dyne Will Appear In Iron Man 3 – Stephanie Szostak's role is listed on IMDB as rumored to be Janet Van Dyne. While this rumor is still unconfirmed, it just makes too much sense not to be true. Joss Whedon has already gone on record saying that he wants more female Avengers and almost included The Wasp in the first Avengers movie. While we doubt that The Wasp will appear in costume in Iron Man 3, the introduction of Janet Van Dyne is the perfect way to establish a lead-in to the Avengers 2, while still keeping Iron Man 3 all about Iron Man. 1. Robert Downey Jr. Will Sign A New Multi-Picture Deal – With Iron Man 3 proving to be both a U.S. and International box office hit, Marvel Studios won't let Robert Downey Jr. get away. Look for Robert Downey Jr. to sign a new multi-picture deal with Marvel Studios in 2013 which will cover Avengers 2 & 3, Iron Man 4 & 5, and maybe a surprise appearance in another movie in 2014.
