ComicLink, a rare and vintage comic book and comic book art seller, reports on their website that a sale is pending for a 9.6 CGC-graded copy of Tales of Suspense #39, the first appearance of Iron Man, for a record $375,000. Since the Certified Guarantee Company began grading comics, there have been three 9.6-graded copies of this book, and never anything higher. The next-highest-graded copy of the issue sold by ComicLink--a 9.4-graded copy--sold back in January for $145,000. Assuming that the sale (currently listed as pending) goes through, this will make Tales of Suspense #39 one of the ten most valuable comic book issues, and the second-highest price for any Silver Age comic, behind a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15, Spider-Man's first appearance, which sold for over $1 million in 2011.
