It's March, and you know what that means... Media outlets everywhere, sandwiched between the holiday period and the end of the  TV season, are trying to awkwardly cram their content into brackets to do March Madness-style stories in which fans can vote for what sort of pizza they like best or what movie they're most anticipating. Alright, so that one happened in February. You get the idea. In the case of Zap2It, they're taking on the question of which celebrity has the most effective social media presence. It's the kind of question that can be as simple as "who has the most fans willing to vote on this?" but could also really mean something in terms of an actor's marketability. Especially when you look at somebody like Stephen Amell, who recently passed 1 million Facebook fans and then, days later, got slapped by The New York Times in an article that suggested he'll never be an A-list star in part because of his age relative to the actors he's competing against for leading-man roles. Amell has mobilized his fan base as the Zap2It bracket is down to just eight players, and TV's Green Arrow is taking an archery-themed butt-kicking to The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus after about 12 hours of voting. Amell has just over 85% of the total vote against Reedus, which is the widest lead in any of the four battles, none of which are within 10%. Perhaps the biggest testament to Amell's ability to drive his fans to vote is that as of this writing (and the image above), over 21,000 votes have been tallied for Amell. That's more than the total number of people who have voted in any of the other three polls...by a margin of about 7,000. The closest vote is actually Sir Patrick Stewart of X-Men fame, who's got a 19% lead over Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Clark Gregg. Elsewhere in the brackets, Ian Somerhalder is manhandling comedian Patton Oswalt while his co-star and sometimes-girlfriend Nina Dobrev is firmly ahead of Archer's Aisha Tyler. Voting started today at 10 a.m. and runs through March 13 at the same time.
