There has been a long and storied rivalry between the fans at Marvel and DC comics. While some people enjoy the books, shows, and films that both companies produce, there are quite a few who are only loyal to one or the other.
This division has continued to spread over the last few years, as the cinematic universes of both properties battle it out at the box office.
While some believe that the companies are the Hatfields & McCoys of entertainment, that's simply not the case. As James Gunn and Geoff Johns acknowledged on Twitter this week, the folks busy creating for both brands have nothing but the utmost respect for one another.
Geoff Johns is the Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment, and he has had a hand in bringing the entire DC Extended Universe to life. On the other side of the fence, James Gunn is a celebrated writer, director, and producer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The latter gave fans the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and is serving as one of the executive producers on Avengers: Infinity War.
While some fans on Twitter were bickering about the supposed Marvel/DC feud, James Gunn chimed in to lay the argument to rest. He told the fans that he, as a Marvel director, loves the DC brand. He followed the thought up by stating adoration for Geoff Johns.
Almost immediately, Johns jumped in to respond. After saying he was a fan of Gunn's as well, Johns revealed his excitement for the director's upcoming film, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. he ended the tweet by telling everyone there were more things worth fighting about.
Let's be honest, he's totally right.
It's hard for anyone who loves comics to find something negative to say about either one of these guys. So, let them be an example.
Marvel makes great stuff. DC makes great stuff. All of us are better for it.
