Beyond meticulously grooming himself, Jared Leto is hard at work in preparing for his turn as the Joker in 2016's Suicide Squad.

According to recent reports, Leto is trying hard to make sure that his interpretation of the Clown Prince of Crime feels wholly original, steering clear of Heath Ledger or Jack Nicholson's versions.

"He wants to make the character completely his own," a confidential source told HollywoodLife. "He knows that this role may be his most difficult ever, but he is confident that he will make his version of the Joker the best."

The source elaborated by saying that Leto's Joker would be a "cerebral" and "comedic" take on the character. Sounds like the Joker to us. Indeed, some of the best takes on the Joker have made him equally brilliant and psychotic. With production on Suicide Squad commencing, more details on Leto's Joker should come soon.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5th, 2016.
