After languishing in development hell for years, a reboot of 'Robocop' is heating up. Sure, we know that Jose Padilha is set to direct, but that doesn't mean the film will get made. But hiring for the lead role would definitely cement things. Deadline is reporting that Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) has been offered the title role which was formerly played by Peter Weller in the 1987 film. Kinnaman hasn't been in a ton of larger projects, but he certainly has a following. And he definitely could pull off this role (which could lead to sequels). Who knows when this thing will actually get on a calendar, though. Heck, no one outside the studio actually even knows what script the film will use. There is the Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream) script, which was supposedly shelved. Then there is the Josh Zetumer version, which may or not be re-written by Nick Schenk (Grand Torino).
