Joss Whedon may be one of The Marvel Cinematic Universe's chief architects, but when it comes to DC Entertainment, he's a fanboy like the rest of us. And a passionate one, at that.

In a recent interview, The Avengers: Age of Ultron director confirmed that he saw the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer last week. Expressing his giddy excitement, Whedon said that he can't wait to see DC's biggest icons clash on the big screen for the first-time ever.

"I found [the trailer for 'Batman v Superman'] interesting," Whedon told Yahoo Movies, "Because they're bringing up a lot of issues that we bring up in 'Age of Ultron' and I think it's inevitable. People with power, who are good, do not always agree and it makes perfect sense for me that [Batman and Superman] would fight," Whedon told Yahoo Movies. "And besides… Batman and Superman are gonna fight! I'm so excited! I'm so excited!"

Based on Whedon's comments, it sounds like much of Captain America: Civil War's superhero conflict will take root in Age of Ultron. Indeed, many rumors have suggested that events of Age of Ultron will drive a wedge between the Avengers group.

But really, any insight on Civil War is peanuts compared to Whedon shaking his fists like a 12-year old.

Are you as excited as Whedon for Batman V. Superman? Sound off in the comments.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1 while Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
