Julianne Moore is in talks with 20th Century Fox to play the villain in Kingsman 2.
Kingsman 2 is the follow-up to Kingsman: The Secret Service, the surprisingly successful action-spy movie that starred Colin Firth and Taron Egerton. Egerton will return as the lead, as will director Matthew Vaughn.
The sequel will continue to follow the adventures of Eggsy (Egerton), the wayward youth who was recruited by Harry Hart (Firth) into the Kingsman and molded into and upstanding young spy. The new film is said to take Eggsy out of London and into the United States.
Firth is so far not expected to return. Harry died during the first film, and initial ideas brainstormed to allow Firth to return – a flashback or twin brother – have reportedly been discarded.
The deal with Moore is not yet final, as she has several projects in the works and scheduling may become a problem. No details on her character were revealed, other than that she is intended to be the film’s antagonist.
Kingsman 2 is expected to shoot this summer, beginning in May.
