When a reporter assumed that Internet rumors were true and that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was indeed being considered to play Quicksilver in Avengers: Age of Ultron, a surprising thing happened: the actor didn't play coy. Taylor-Johnson, who is also starring in Gareth Edwards's Godzilla, starred in the first Kick-Ass alongside Evan Peters, who will play the super-fast mutant in X-Men: Days of Future Past--and when quizzed on whether the pair had spoken about the coincidence, he admitted that they had. "I bumped into him at Comic Con, yeah," the actor told Superhero Hype in the video interview embedded below. "Do you know what? It's a weird sort of bizarre connection, yeah, but unfortunately he couldn't do the second [Kick-Ass] because he was busy on his show but it was upsetting because I thought he was really great and a really great part of the first one and would have been awesome. And it's great that he's doing Quicksilver in the X-Men. It is bizarre; I haven't really thought about it too much." Far from a confirmation, the lack of a denial is interesting in that up until now, all there had been was a shady online rumor with no official comment from any involved parties. Both 20th Century Fox, who hold the X-Men rights, and Marvel Studios/Disney, who own most of the Marvel Comics characters, have the ability to use Quicksilver and his sister the Scarlet Witch--and both Avengers director Joss Whedon and X-Men director Bryan Singer have chosen to do so in their next films.
