Prime 1 Studio, known for their high-quality statues and busts, have announced that they will produce a line of collectibles pegged to Legendary's forthcoming Godzilla follow-up, Kong: Skull Island.
The film is the second of Legendary's big monster movies set in the shared universe of the two famous creatures. While Godzilla also has a direct sequel planned, the pair will reportedly square off in a 2020 crossover battle.
Prime 1 also recently announced lines based on the work of award-winning comics artist Lee Bermejo (Suiciders, Joker), DC's Rebirth publishing line, and more. They've had a number of recent successes creating statues based on DC's movies, Marvel's comics, and the Batman: Arkham line.
No images of the planned Kong line are available, presumably in part because they either aren't finished or the finished version of the statue hasn't yet passed licensor approval from Legendary.
Kong: Skull Island will arrive in theaters on March 10, 2017. Godzilla 2 will follow on June 8, 2018. The two icons will finally meet in Godzilla vs. Kong, set for 2020.
