Kung Fu Panda 3 took home the box office crown this weekend with a $41 million haul, more than three times the amount generated by its closest competitor, last week's box office champ The Revenant.

The Revenant made $12.4 million, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens came in third with $10.8 million, pushing its total domestic gross up over $895 million.

Rounding out the top five were The Finest Hours ($10.3 million) and Ride Along 2 ($8.3 million).

Kung Fu Panda 3 nearly doubled the opening weekend for star Jack Black's last wide release, last year's Goosebumps in which he played children's author R.L. Stine. It's the sixth-highest opening weekend for Black, behind the first two Kung Fu Panda films, King Kong, Shark Tale, and Ice Age.
