Legends of Tomorrow Executive Producer Praises Cast Diversity, Teases Future Seasons

Rumors that DC's Legends of Tomorrow is designed as a one-season event series are seemingly exaggerated, as showrunner Greg Berlanti referenced two or three years of plans when asked about the show's diverse cast.

Saying that diversity is a talking point in Hollywood "because it should be," Berlanti -- who also produces Supergirl, Arrow and The Flash -- said that he was proud of the diversity in the Legends of Tomorrow cast, which features characters from a variety of cultures, races, ages, and two female leads.

The plan is for the cast to be even more diverse in two to three years, Berlanti told ComicBook.com's Emily Donn today at the Television Critics Association.

"That's the desire," Berlanti said. "It makes the story more interesting; it allows us to keep going to more places and keep working with better and better talent. That being said, I think everybody can take things even further. I don't look at this ensemble and think it's as diverse as it should be or could be even two or three years from now."

At the suggestion that future seasons could see changes to the cast makeup, series star Victor Garber jokingly asked how long he had.
