One of the many blink-and-you'll-miss-it Easter eggs hidden in the background of Man of Steel might give a clue as to one potential pot point in the next film. During Superman's big battle with General Zod, the pair blow past a building that's illuminated with the logo of the Utopia Casino--something that fans of the Darwyn Cooke/Tim Sale arc in Superman Confidential will remember. In the series' first arc, Kryptonite's effects on Superman are discovered when a casino magnate named Anthony Gallo brings huge chunks of Kryptonite to town. It's stored inside the Utopia Casino, where Gallo holds it in great reverence...until Lex Luthor discovers its effects on Superman and becomes determined to use it to his advantage. Seeing the Utopia--and let me tell you, as far as Easter eggs go, this one was pretty obvious--certainly puts the potential there for the Kryptonite story to be adapted. How they'll handle it in a world where action is hyper-fast and Superman is more physically impressive than ever before is the big question.
