Man Of Steel Postage Stamps Revealed

The Man Of Steel movie is getting its own postage stamps from the Jersey Post. No, New Jersey has not started issuing their own postage stamps, as these stamps are not being released in the United States. The Jersey Post is the postal service for the island of Jersey, which is a British Crown Dependency just off the coast of Normandy, France. Why is Jersey producing a Man Of Steel stamp? Because Man Of Steel star Henry Cavill is originally from Jersey. Henry Cavill is also a former Head Boy at St Michael's Preparatory School in Jersey. In order to promote the new Man Of Steel stamps, an 'augmented reality' app has been released through Smartsy featuring an exclusive introduction to the stamps from Henry Cavill. According to the Jersey Post, their Philatelic Bureau began discussing the project nearly two year ago with both Henry Cavill's management team and Warner Bros. pictures. The stamps received Royal approval this month. "Henry is very proud of his island roots and has been involved in the development of the stamps throughout. Jersey Post has gone to great lengths to provide such a beautiful and wonderfully creative set of treasures," said Henry's father Colin Cavill. The set of six stamps were developed by Cartor Security Printing in France and include a number of innovative techniques, which pay tribute to the Man of Steel's super powers. Here's a description of each of the six stamps. Man Of Steel Stamp - The 45p stamp features a close-up of Jersey's own Henry Cavill. It also has its own superpower, triggering the augme nted reality app through Smartsy. Transparent Stamp - The Man of Steel's most famous superpower is his ability to fly, depicted here on the 55p transparent stamp that features a dramatic mid-air image. Foil Stamp - Featuring a dramatic image, this gleaming 60p stamp is printed on flat simili silver foiling, reflecting the Man of Steel's incredible strength. Heat-Sensitive Stamp - The unique 68p stamp is printed with thermochromic ink; when warmth is applied, for example by holding it with your fingertips, the earth is revealed behind the Man of Steel. Granite Stamp - Crushed granite taken from just one pebble on Beauport beach, which is Henry Cavill's favourite place in Jersey, is applied to the face of each 80p thermographic stamp to give its rough, tactile finish and once again acknowledging the Man of Steel's strength. Glow In The Dark Stamp - Printed with glow-in-the-dark ink, the 88p stamp reveals a hidden message from the Man of Steel's Kryptonian father, Jor-El. The words are visible only in darkness. The Jersey Post is also releasing a limited edition collector's pack, which includes a sheet of each of the stamps, information about the film and Henry Cavill, bound in a specially commissioned steel-effect cover. The Jersey Post has also set up a special Man Of Steel stamp website for people to order the stamps.
