It’s Jon Snow meets Walter White in Marvel Comics’ newly announced Black Knight Series.
"Black Knight", which will debut this fall during Marvel’s “All-New, All-Different Marvel” publishing event, will see Dane Whitman exploring the leftover vestiges of Secret Wars’ WeirdWorld. And as series writer Frank Tieri describes it, the adventures will open up a series of stories that feel like a cross between Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad.
“There’ll be sword and sorcery and all that stuff but it’s really more than that. At it’s heart, Black Knight will be about one man’s struggle with what I call a “necessary addiction,” Tieri told Newsarama. “I guess the best description is something that’s sort of like a cross between Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad. Call it Breaking Blade, if you will.”
Tieri, who will be joined by artist Luca Pizzari, is no stranger to Black Knight. He’s written the character before in Marvel’s New Excalibur series and in an Original Sin tie-in miniseries, and has had plans for a Black Knight solo book for several years.
Black Knight will also cross paths with The Avengers in the series’ opening arc, according to Tieri, as he explores his new home of New Avalon--a part of Battle World's WierdWorld that will apparently survive Secret Wars.
