Marvel Comics Announces MarvelFest NYC 2009

Marvel Comics has announced that they will be holding MarvelFest NYC 2009 on October 28th in order to celebrate the release of the Astonishing X-Men motion comic on iTunes. The Astonishing X-Men motion comic is based on the award winning story by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday. The celebration kicks off at 4 PM with an event at Forbidden Planet in New York City. Neal Adams, Chris Claremont, and Dan Slott will be appearing to meet fans and sign autographs. At 6 PM, the celebration moves to Union Square on 14th street in New York City. There will be Marvel giveaways, the opportunity for fans to photograph themselves on a life size Marvel cover and sketches from Marvel creators. There will also be a MarvelFest Costume Contest, where contestants (18 years old and older) will have a chance to win a variety of prizes, including the grand prize of being featured in a Marvel comic book. Celebrity judges will be on hand to select the winners, and all contestants will get a limited-edition Nick Fury Hasbro action figure (while supplies last), an exclusive Vengeance of The Moon Knight #1 MarvelFest Variant comic book and a 1 month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited. At 7 PM, the first episode of the Astonishing X-Men will be projected three stories high.
