Marvel Free Digital Comics Offer

Earlier today, Marvel Comics announced that they were giving away 700 free digital comic books for a limited time. As thousands of users rushed to ComiXology and the Marvel Comics Digital Comics Shop (powered by ComiXology), the ComiXology servers slowed to a crawl. While ComiXology was very responsive to fans via Twitter that they were working on the situation, the initial server crashes have continued throughout the day. Five hours after the announcement, ComiXology tweeted, "Bad News: Still seeing some mega lag. Good News: Team is honing in on a mega fix. Best News: Those 700 free comics will STILL be there tm!" Now, even ten hours after the initial announcement, fans are still complaining on Facebook and Twitter that they have been unable to access ComiXology to get their free digital comics. Anyone that works at Marvel is getting targeted with complaints apparently, as Marvel Comics writer Brian Michael Bendis tweeted, "For those complaining to me about the @comiXology outage because of the free @marvel comics. you're complaining to the wrong guy. sorry." However, Agent M, who works in social media for Marvel has hinted that the offer might be extended. Agent M tweeted, "I can't say anything official yet, but we're definitely looking to make sure everyone gets to enjoy #Marvel1 this week. More info soon."
