Marvel Comics and the Fire Department of the City of New York are teaming up for the FDNY's 150th anniversary, celebrating together at New York Comic Con with a unique auction. Marvel is auctioning off ten special fire helmets designed around their popular characters like Iron man, Captain America, The Hulk, Spider-Man, Black Widow, and more. They were designed by top Marvel aritsts including Walt Simonson, CCO Joe Quesada, Damion Scott, and Kaare Andrews

"We are very used to celebrating heroes at New York Comic Con, but they're the fictional kind," Lance Fensterman, Global Senior Vice President of ReedPOP, said to the NY Daily News. "The fact is, the city's bravest do reside in New York City — and they aren't fictional superheroes — they are the real deal and they're the FDNY."

The auction will benefit the FDNY, and Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro is thrilled to have participated with Marvel on the project.

"Thanks to our partners at Marvel and New York Comic Con, these helmets have been reimagined with artwork of iconic superheroes, raising funds for the FDNY Foundation to help the department protect all New Yorkers," Nigro said.

The auction will begin at 6:30 pm on Saturday, after the helmets are displayed in Artist Alley from Thursday to Sunday at NYCC at the Javits Center. All procedes to to the FDNY Foundation, which "provides awareness and outreach for the public, training and support for the department's different squads and technology and equipment for stations."
