Masters of the Universe

Jeff Wadlow has signed on to rewrite the script for Master of the Universe, according to the Hollywood Reporter. We reported earlier that the Kick-Ass 2 director was rumored to be signed on to direct, but that is not the case. He is only rewriting the script at this point, with no director attached. Wadlow will be considered when it comes time for Columbia Pictures to choose a director for the film. Masters of the Universe is an adaptation of the popular 1980s Mattel toy line and cartoon, in which, in a distant and mystical land, wimpy Prince Adam leads the life of royalty. Unknown to all but a few close friends/allies, Prince Adam is actually a hero, the mighty He-Man. Together with his friends, (such as Teela; her father, a man-at-arms; mysterious Orko and his mighty friend/horse substitute Battle Cat), He-Man battles the evil Skeletor and his minions for control of the world, and, more importantly, for the control, power and "honor of Greyskull," the mysterious castle from which He-Man derives his powers. Masters of the Universe has been in development at Columbia since 2009, but has been stalled in development. No target release date or plot details have been revealed as of yet.
