Molly Parker Cast As Female Lead In Lost In Space

Emmy-nominated actress Molly Parker, who is best known for playing Democratic congresswoman Jacqueline "Jackie" Sharp on the Netflix Original Series House of Cards, has joined the cast of Neflix's Netflix's Lost in Space remake, according to Deadline.

Parker will play Maureen Robinson,"a fearless and brilliant aerospace engineer who makes the decision to bring her family to space for a chance at a new life on a better world." In the original Lost in Space television series (1965-1968), the character was portrayed by June Lockhart. In the 1998 feature film, the role was played by Mimi Rogers.

Parker joins a cast that already features Toby Stephens (Black Sails) as John Robinson, Maxwell Jenkins (Sense8) as Will Robinson, and Taylor Russell (Falling Skies) as Judy Robinson.

Parker is also known for her playing Alma Garret in HBO's Deadwood.

Taking its cues from the original series, the show centers around the Robinson family, who is forced to come together in a time of crisis. Stranded light years from their intended destination, they find themselves battling a strange new alien environment and also their own personal demons. Equal parts family drama and sci-fi adventure, it is a survival story for the ages.
