Nintendo is world renowned for its inventive game worlds and beloved character icons like Mario, Link, Samus, and Donkey Kong, and it will soon be bringing those franchises to Universal Studios.

Universal and Nintendo have released new details regarding the new park expansion, which will be coming to Universal Studios Japan, Universal Orlando Resort, and Universal Studios Hollywood. Nintendo prides itself on immersive worlds, and it will bring that same attention to detail to these new areas, which are also said to be "expansive, immersive, and interactive." Each area won't necessarily be the same, but each will feature multiple attractions, shops, and restaurants to keep patrons entertained.

"We're always looking for the next great idea and the next great place to take people and Nintendo fit the bill, and it was a natural fit," said Universal Creative's Mark Woodbury. "We are going to be able to create an entire Nintendo world, and as we continue to develop it , that world became more immersive, more involved, and more colorful and more exciting and more interactive.

"We are constantly amazed how the park developers are bringing the essence of our games to life in the real world' said Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto. "Together, we are building it with an eye for what guests will actually experience. Since we're really bringing the world to life, I think Mario will feel like he finally came home!"

The goal is to make the guests feel as if they are inside their favorite franchise, and both companies have said there will be something for everyone. Nintendo has always focused on all-ages gaming, so it's no surprise that this will also be the focus of these new attractions. While these areas aren't opening up this year, planning and creative on them is already underway.

Universal and Nintendo aren't waiting to open them all at the same time either, so you'll likely see them open individually over the next few years.
