New Disneyland Concept Art Reveals how Star Wars Land Affects Existing Park

As of today, Disneyland has shut down several attractions - some permanently and some temporarily - to break ground on Star Wars Land, the new full-feature Land addition to the park. At Disneyland, due to available land to build on, the park will be built off of the Rivers of America, replacing and building out further from part of Frontierland. It'll be the first major break from the current oblong/circular design of the park.

The biggest attractions shut down this week are the temporary closures - all of the Rivers of America attractions, including both boat rides, the Davy Crockett's Explorer Canoes, and Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island all shut down, as did the iconic Disneyland Railroad, which officials say will be closed for more than a year.

New concept art revealed from Imagineering, though, gives us an idea of how the rivers and railroad will look when construction of the 14-acre addition is complete. The Rivers of America will now have a new waterfront and waterfalls across the way. The Railroad will be suspended over the water and along the waterfalls, giving it a significant facelift.

Both the Rivers of America and the Railroad have been at Disneyland park since it first opened in 1955. No timetable for the opening of Star Wars Land, being built at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios, has been released.
