John Wick fans have enjoyed plenty of announcements for the Keanu Reeves-led action franchise, but have yet to actually see footage from the upcoming sequel. The good news is that the studio is rectifying that very soon.
Director Chad Stahelski is aiming to do some world building in the new entry, saying: “What’s it like to be in a world like this? That’s what we really wanted to expand on,” the director said. “Me and the other creators on the show, my partner and the other producers, the biggest attraction to us about filmmaking really is creating a universe, and creating a world, and creating a little bit of escape. That’s really what we focused on and we’re hoping that’s what comes across in the second movie.”
That new focus doesn't mean he's going to snub the reason the franchise has been a hit, though. “I would say we had twice as much action as the first movie,” Stahleski told EW. “We took it all a full notch up as far as the driving car stuff went. A great portion of the car chase in the opening of the film is Keanu, which is very impressive.”
Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers."
The cast features Keanu Reeves, John Leguizamo, Lance Reddick, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Ruby Rose, Common, Peter Stormare, and Riccardo Scamarcio.
